About the position

Emergent Method is seeking an experienced and dynamic Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance. This full-time, permanent position involves hands-on management of accounting processes, including general ledger management and month-end close, while optimizing cash flow and ensuring adherence to regulations. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the development of a finance team to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely
  • Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements
  • Assist in the preparation and review of budgets and forecasts, providing insights on variances
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting regulations (GAAP/GASB)
  • Support in financial planning, cost analysis, and other strategic financial activities
  • Collaborate with coworkers and project managers, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders in a professional manner and with a focus on customer service
  • Manage and develop a team of finance professionals, providing guidance and ensuring accurate and timely completion of all accounting functions
  • Assist in process improvement initiatives to enhance profitability and efficiency in accounting operations
  • Manage fixed assets accounting and depreciation schedules
  • Work with external CPA to prepare tax filings and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Three to eight years of accounting experience, with experience in general ledger, financial reporting, and month-end close processes
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP/GASB
  • Experience with accounting/invoicing software
  • Ability to understand, summarize, and present financial and other data to different stakeholders
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in leading and developing a finance team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to operate with incomplete information, figure things out, and make informed decisions
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
