About the position

The Accounting Manager at LUMA Hotel Times Square is responsible for overseeing the hotel's financial processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general cashier duties. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, manages cash handling, and maintains compliance with financial policies. The position plays a crucial role in supporting the hotel's financial health and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Process all invoices payable by the hotel.
  • Perform general cashier duties including processing deposits and providing central cashier services.
  • Complete daily income audits and monitor forecasts based on hotel business levels.
  • Reconcile all charge backs to the hotel.
  • Retrieve deposits from the drop safe and perform daily deposits.
  • Count the house safe at the beginning and end of each shift and maintain the petty cash fund.
  • Reimburse any due backs/petty cash and complete the over/short report.
  • Conduct unannounced audits of cashiers' banks and perform monthly audits as part of month-end duties.
  • Provide change for hotel employees and guests, maintaining an appropriate amount of change in the house safe.
  • Maintain contracts for each cashier and issue cash handling policies.
  • Coordinate weekly pick up with Brinks and deposit all checks with bank deposits or Check Desktop Deposit.
  • Receive all hotel invoices and match them with purchase orders, receiving reports, and packing slips.
  • Verify accuracy of prices on invoices and ensure correct coding to expense categories.
  • Process and post accounts payable invoices and credits, ensuring prompt payment of payables.
  • Reconcile statements monthly and resolve discrepancies.
  • Handle vendor inquiries and maintain voided check files for operating and Imprest accounts.
  • Post electronic fund transfers and enter cash receipts, updating accounts receivable ledgers.
  • Ensure daily mailing of all invoices with complete back-up detail.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school with a focus in accounting; or 2 years accounts payable/cashier experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of previous accounting and finance experience in a hotel finance environment.
  • Birchstreet experience preferred.
