About the position

The Accounting Manager at ASM Global Jacksonville is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting functions at the venues, ensuring compliance with financial management goals and policies. This role involves supervising payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions, while also preparing financial reports and managing audits. The position requires effective leadership and communication skills to interact with various levels of staff and management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily activities of accounting functions at the venues as required by the Director of Facility Accounting or General Manager.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of facility goals and priorities relating to financial management, budget, accounting, purchasing, and payroll.
  • Supervise payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other accounting functions and personnel.
  • Prepare and perform or assist with event settlements and bank reconciliations.
  • Supervise and assist with the preparation of all financial reporting, including financial statements and required audits.
  • Review financial statements with Building Directors, Assistant General Managers, and General Manager.
  • Direct the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
  • Maintain general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, and insurance records.
  • Verify and check the accuracy of general ledger coding.
  • Direct and participate in cost analyses and rate studies.
  • Prepare and analyze information for financial statements and reports.
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis for each department.
  • Direct internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
  • Coordinate preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
  • Work with auditors in verifying financial information/procedures.
  • Establish system controls for new financial systems and develop procedures to improve existing systems.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in public accounting and/or financial management at a supervisory level or as a department head.
  • Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting.
  • Excellent math skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff including management and clients.
  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information.
  • Effective supervisory skills.
  • Superior knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software.

  • Willingness to learn and use accounting and financial reporting software.
