About the position

The Accounting Manager will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department in Fresno, California, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting and accounting processes. This role is crucial for maintaining the financial health of the organization by ensuring timely completion and reporting of financial and accounting procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment within the finance team
  • Assist with managing assigned parts of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Oversee the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and organizational policies
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies, including tax filings and financial reporting requirements
  • Oversee the maintenance and improvement of financial systems and accounting software
  • Monitor and analyze budget variances, providing insights and recommendations to management
  • Reconcile assigned accounts and review the reconciliations of others, ensuring discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner
  • Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness within the department
  • Prepare journal entries as needed and review the journal entries of others to ensure accurate financial reports
  • Assist with the management of the annual audits, liaising with external auditors and ensuring timely completion

Requirements

  • Must hold a minimum of 5 years' experience in an accounting management role or a similar position
  • Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) procedures
  • Demonstrated experience with Month End Close processes
  • Comprehensive knowledge of General Ledger operations
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions
