About the position

The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting activities and manage the month-end close process for a privately owned wine manufacturer. This role involves ensuring accurate financial reporting, supervising accounting staff, and acting as a liaison with external CPAs. The position also includes responsibilities in cost accounting, inventory valuation, and the design of internal controls, all while working in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities and the month-end close process.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all monthly financial information.
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise accounting staff.
• Act as a key point of contact for external CPAs and manage preparation for tax returns.
• Calculate product costs and drive improvements through analytics.
• Provide financial reporting to Wine Making teams.
• Perform inventory valuations and reconcile inventory in the subledger to the general ledger.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting for the bank.
• Review and file all local, state, and federal tax returns.
• Design and administer internal controls.
• Identify and implement accounting process and systems improvements.

Requirements

• 6+ years of accounting experience including 2 years in managing people
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting highly preferred
• Solid understanding of US GAAP
• Experience with cost accounting
• Experience with ERP software
• Intermediate Excel skills
