About the position

Robert Half is supporting an established consumer goods company in hiring an Accounting Manager for their growing international business. This role is instrumental in managing the accounting and finance functions, which include the management of the general ledger, annual audit, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable functions. The Accounting Manager will also assist in financial planning and analysis, ensuring that the financial operations align with the company's strategic goals. Additionally, this position will oversee two Accounting Specialists, providing guidance and support to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of their work. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and reconciliation of the general ledger, ensuring that all financial records are accurate and compliant with regulations. This role will manage the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors to facilitate a smooth and thorough review. The manager will supervise the Accounts Receivable function, ensuring the accurate application of customer payments and the processing of deductions. In the Accounts Payable function, the manager will ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices, along with appropriate approvals to maintain fiscal responsibility. In addition to these responsibilities, the Accounting Manager will assist in preparing the annual budget and periodic re-forecasts, monitor and improve the Accounts Receivable aging status, and ensure proper filings for state sales and use taxes, potentially involving third-party assistance. The role will also focus on executing and improving current accounting policies and procedures, overseeing spending to ensure fiscal responsibility within the company, and utilizing accounting software systems and Microsoft Excel to achieve efficient and accurate financial management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and reconciliation of the general ledger.
  • Manage the annual audit process to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise the Accounts Receivable function, including the accurate application of customer payments and processing of deductions.
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable function, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices and appropriate approvals.
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget and periodic re-forecasts.
  • Monitor and improve the Accounts Receivable aging status.
  • Ensure proper filings for state sales and use taxes, through third-party involvement if necessary.
  • Execute and improve current accounting policies and procedures.
  • Oversee spending to ensure fiscal responsibility within the company.
  • Utilize Accounting Software Systems and Microsoft Excel to achieve efficient and accurate financial management.

Requirements

  • Hands on experience in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and account reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software systems and Microsoft Excel, including familiarity with Excel formulas.
  • Ability to handle cash applications and deductions accurately and responsibly.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • 5+ years' accounting experience, 3 of which have been in a managerial level role.
  • Roll up your sleeves mentality when it comes to supporting accounting functions and the overall team.
  • CPG/Manufacturing industry experience.
