About the position

The Accounting Manager at Linde Inc. is responsible for overseeing property tax audits, compliance, and reporting for multiple legal entities. This role involves coordinating with various departments and external consultants to ensure accurate property tax assessments and timely filings. The manager will also supervise clerical staff and serve as a liaison between compliance vendors and the business, ensuring process improvements and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Support property tax audit and assessment challenges by providing data to jurisdictions and related consultants.
  • Track and ensure compliance with property tax abatements, including timely filing of reports and leading regional meetings.
  • Track and pay real property bills across multiple legal entities, ensuring accuracy in property listings.
  • Create annual asset files for compliance vendors to use in filing business personal property tax returns.
  • Prepare annual property tax accruals and budgets for LGUS, Corp, and Global Helium, collaborating with controllers to estimate changes in asset base.
  • Review and approve property tax liability and receivable reconciliations for LGUS plants, preparing true-up entries as necessary.
  • Communicate bill back files for accurate pass-through billing of property taxes to customers.
  • Calculate complex bill backs requiring formulas and allocations across multiple customers.
  • Act as a backup for the Director of Tax as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between compliance vendors and the business for process improvements and data sharing.
  • Validate property tax savings from challenging assessments and approve contingency payments.
  • Conduct property tax due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, researching tax status of acquired properties.
  • Estimate expected taxes on new plants and expansions for LGUS and Global Helium.
  • Provide documentation to customers supporting billback invoices.
  • Supervise assigned clerical personnel.

Requirements

  • 4-year Accounting Degree
  • 5 years of Business Personal Property tax experience in a large multistate corporation or relevant experience in a CPA firm managing property tax for large client groups.
  • Experience with Property Tax Abatement Compliance
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PTMS or other Property Tax management Software
  • CPA Certification
