About the position

The Accounting Manager at Silencer Central is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and managing financial reporting. This role requires strong leadership skills and a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Accounting Manager will also mentor accounting staff and contribute to the development of accounting systems and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and managing the general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes
  • Coordinating accounting functions and programs
  • Managing the month-end close process
  • Maintaining the general ledger by recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accuracy
  • Supporting internal and external audit processes by providing documentation, explanations, and assistance as needed
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and other tax regulations
  • Identifying inefficiencies in accounting processes and recommending improvements to streamline operations and enhance controls
  • Staying abreast of changes in accounting regulations and ensuring compliance with relevant standards
  • Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance
  • Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures
  • Creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accounting and reporting
  • Leading and participating in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management
  • Supervising and mentoring accounting staff, providing training and development opportunities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or relevant work experience required
  • 5+ years of accounting experience required, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Strong Excel skill set
  • Previous ERP experience, preferably NetSuite
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently to achieve goals and targets
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team, departmental, and corporate goals
  • Critical thinking ability - using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Ability to monitor and assess performance of self, team members, and the operation to make improvements or take corrective action
