About the position

The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of our local non-profit client. This position requires a mission-driven individual who is not only a natural leader but also enjoys a collaborative approach to management. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all month-end activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to GAAP compliance. This role involves direct supervision of a team of four accounting staff members, providing guidance and support to ensure that all financial processes are executed efficiently. In addition to overseeing month-end activities, the Accounting Manager will prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and allocations. They will also be tasked with preparing financial statements for each department, ensuring that all financial reporting is accurate and reflective of the organization's financial health. The Accounting Manager will gather documentation for audits and provide backup support for payroll processing, ensuring that all financial operations run smoothly and without interruption. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, particularly within the non-profit sector, and will have a proven track record of managing accounting functions effectively. Responsibilities

  • Oversee month-end activities ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and GAAP compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • Prior non-profit, government, senior living, or project-based accounting experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong knowledge of GAAP, GL functions, and month-end processes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels of a collaborative and people-focused organization.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
