About the position

The Accounting Manager for our RHOME rental division is a pivotal role responsible for gathering, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information and accounting production queues. This position entails overseeing the daily activities of the Rental accounting department, ensuring that all financial operations align with corporate policies and procedures. The Accounting Manager will also be tasked with hiring, training, and coaching subordinates, fostering a productive and compliant work environment. This role is integral in guiding other departments, divisions, and branches by applying observations and recommendations to enhance their financial operations. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will participate in educational opportunities to update company information and advance the current financial model. In this capacity, the Accounting Manager will supervise the Rental accounting team, leveraging their accounting experience to create a support system that provides guidance, escalation resolution, and strategic design for the company's growth. The role requires a strong understanding of financial management, budgetary processes, and accounting principles, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The Accounting Manager will also be responsible for overseeing certain financial objectives and ensuring that the team meets its goals efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily activities of the Rental accounting department.
  • Collect and provide information for audit inquiries and assist auditors.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to financial management, budget, and accounting.
  • Oversee the posting and maintenance of general ledger accounts, payroll transactions, accounts payable, and general ledger adjustments.
  • Provide financial analysis statements including monthly balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Handle vendor setups and year-end 1099 processing.
  • Oversee month-end close processes.
  • Review bank and balance reconciliations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • 7 - 10 years of directly related or closely related experience
  • 3 - 5 years of Management and/or Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of GAAP at a proficient level
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) at an expert level
  • Professional communication skills (phone, interpersonal, written, verbal, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Dynamic leadership talent to support a team of 3-5 staff
  • Self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and a team player
  • Interpretation and completion of verbal and/or written instructions at a proficient level
  • Confidentiality and discretion in the performance of all duties and responsibilities
  • Time management and time-critical prioritization skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Property Accounting experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with Yardi, AppFolio, Rent Manager, or other major accounting software preferred.
