About the position

The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting activities and manage the month-end close process for a privately owned wine manufacturer. This role involves ensuring accurate financial reporting, supervising accounting staff, and acting as a liaison with external CPAs. The position also includes responsibilities in cost accounting, inventory valuation, and the preparation of financial reports for the bank, while driving improvements in accounting processes and systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities and the month-end close process.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all monthly financial information.
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise accounting staff.
• Act as a key point of contact for external CPAs and manage preparation for tax returns.
• Calculate product costs and drive improvements through analytics.
• Perform inventory valuations and reconcile inventory in the subledger to the general ledger.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting for the bank.
• Review and file all local, state, and federal tax returns.
• Design and administer internal controls.
• Identify and implement accounting process and systems improvements.

Requirements

• 6+ years of accounting experience including 2 years in managing people.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting highly preferred.
• Solid understanding of US GAAP.
• Experience with cost accounting.
• Experience with ERP software.
• Intermediate Excel skills.
