About the position

The Accounting Manager plays a vital role in the hospitality team by supporting the Director of Finance in managing the daily operations of the accounting department. This position focuses on ensuring excellent customer service, handling guest and vendor inquiries, and maintaining accurate financial records. The Accounting Manager is responsible for preparing financial forecasts, assisting in month-end closing, and contributing to audits and budget preparations, all while fostering a positive work environment for the accounting associates.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Finance in daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Handle guest and vendor inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Review daily financial reports for accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Collaborate in the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist in the coordination and preparation of weekly and monthly forecasts.
  • Support the month-end closing process with timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Communicate regularly with the Assistant Director of Finance/Director of Finance regarding business updates.
  • Comply with loss prevention policies to ensure security of financial transactions.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
  • Support the preparation of budgets, operating statements, and payroll reports.
  • Understand the impact of department operations on overall hotel financial goals.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude and serve as an example of excellent guest relations.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback and address complaints.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Provide feedback in the performance appraisal process for team members.
  • Promote teamwork and create a supportive work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in hospitality.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and train accounting associates effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hotel management software.
