About the position

The Accounting Manager at Crestline Hotels & Resorts will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of the hotel. This position requires a strong background in accounting, particularly within the hospitality industry, to ensure that all financial activities are conducted in compliance with the company's standard operating procedures (SOPs), local laws, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Accounting Manager will supervise key areas including Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cashier, and Income Audit, ensuring that all financial information is accurate and readily available for decision-making. In this role, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for analyzing and reconciling all general ledger accounts and bank statements. They will assist in the preparation of the annual budget, forecasts, taxes, and other financial reports, which are crucial for the hotel's financial health. The position also involves training and monitoring staff, coordinating the implementation of financial controls, and ensuring effective communication of financial information across departments. The Accounting Manager will resolve any issues that arise within the accounting systems to maintain smooth operations. The successful candidate will maintain accurate daily revenue figures, ensuring that revenues are reported to Crestline Hotels & Resorts. They will facilitate monthly adjustments to the guest ledger and city ledger, handle office supply orders, assist in inventory and price verifications, and maintain a working knowledge of all accounting functions. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will prepare and facilitate training sessions, assist in monthly accrual meetings, verify monthly revenue reports, and maintain positive working relationships with all hotel associates and managers. This role is essential for ensuring that the accounting department operates efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall success of the hotel.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cashier, and Income Audit operations.
  • Analyze and reconcile all general ledger accounts and bank statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, forecasts, taxes, and other financial reports.
  • Train, monitor, and coordinate the implementation of financial controls and information flow to other departments.
  • Maintain accurate daily revenue figures and ensure revenues are reported daily to Crestline Hotels & Resorts.
  • Facilitate monthly guest ledger and city ledger adjustments and charges on a journal entry for General Ledger posting.
  • Handle all office supply orders, maintaining ample supply and controlling costs.
  • Assist in all inventory and price verifications reviewed monthly.
  • Review all guest ledger accounts to ensure accounts are being maintained.
  • Prepare and facilitate training, reviews, schedules, meetings, and associate satisfaction for all associates.
  • Assist in monthly accrual meetings with department managers.
  • Verify monthly revenue reports and assist in all month-end entries.
  • Attend all staff meetings and in-house training classes.
  • Assist Controller in preparation of profit and loss statements.
  • Maintain positive working relations between accounting and all other hotel associates/managers.
  • Assist in monthly communication to owners and management companies.
  • Facilitate monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Facilitate balances and report all taxes in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred or 5 years of work equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of experience related to Accounting/Finance.
  • Computer skills required, with familiarity in Microsoft Office preferred and Excel required.
  • Experience with hotel information systems is required.
