About the position

CROWN Cork & Seal USA, Inc. is a global leader in the design, manufacture, and sale of packaging products for consumer goods. As part of the plant management team in Mill Park, OH, the Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity of all activities within the plant. This position is responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including month-end closing, journal entries, variance analysis, reconciliation, budgeting, and inventory control. The Accounting Manager will collaborate closely with the Plant Manager on all accounting issues and will interact daily with the Corporate Accounting group to ensure alignment and accuracy in financial reporting. The Accounting Manager will oversee the development of the annual budget and standard cost updates, as well as prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual income projections. This role requires a thorough analysis of operations, trends, costs, revenues, and financial commitments to project future revenues and expenses accurately. The monthly closing responsibilities include reviewing local Goods Received/Invoice Received reports, managing the Plant's Indirect Labor Cost Center, and issuing monthly plant financials. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, document business transactions, and perform bank reconciliations. In this role, the Accounting Manager will also audit contracts, orders, and vouchers, preparing reports to substantiate individual transactions before settlement. Inventory control management is another critical aspect of this position, which includes reporting inventories by location, managing physical inventories twice a year, and overseeing manufacturing asset control. The Accounting Manager will also develop local manufacturing metrics, including performance metrics and capacity analysis, and supervise payroll and accounts payable functions. Other duties may be assigned as required, making this a dynamic and integral role within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Development of the annual budget and annual standard cost updates.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual income projections.
  • Creation of monthly reports to management, including manual journal entries and variance analysis.
  • Analysis of operations, trends, costs, revenues, and financial commitments to project future revenues and expenses.
  • Monthly closing responsibility, including review of local Goods Received/Invoice Received reports and issuing monthly plant financials.
  • Compilation and analysis of financial information to prepare entries to accounts and document business transactions.
  • Preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports to summarize and interpret the company's financial position.
  • Auditing contracts, orders, and vouchers, and preparing reports to substantiate individual transactions before settlement.
  • Management of warehouse, shipping, and inventory control, including reporting inventories by location and conducting cycle count activities.
  • Management of physical inventories twice a year and overseeing BOMs/Route and costing requests.
  • Development of local manufacturing metrics, including performance metrics and capacity analysis.
  • Supervision of payroll and accounts payable functions.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree in Business or Accounting.
  • 3 years of successful experience in a managerial position related to accounting duties in a manufacturing facility.
  • CMA designation is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts and GAAP.
  • Experience with a standards-based accounting system, including P&L, projections, and inter-company transfers.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a team.
  • Strong PC skills, excellent communication skills, and multi-tasking abilities.
