About the position

The Accounting Manager at the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of the organization. This position is responsible for planning, directing, and managing all aspects of day-to-day finance, accounting, and banking for all legal entities associated with LAFC. The Accounting Manager will lead the month-end close process, ensuring the preparation, review, and approval of all monthly journal entries, revenue recognition, and account reconciliations. This role also involves assisting in the preparation of monthly financial statements and financial deliverables, such as invoices and reports, while performing initial reviews of these statements to ensure accuracy and compliance. In addition to the month-end close responsibilities, the Accounting Manager will analyze account activity, researching and proposing corrections where necessary. The role includes assisting with annual audits, which encompass financial, tax, and agreed-upon procedures, by providing necessary samples, support schedules, and addressing analysis questions. The Accounting Manager will also oversee cash management and assist with cash forecasts, ensuring that the organization maintains a healthy cash flow. Furthermore, this position will manage accounts receivable and assist with accounts payable processes and transactions, providing financial analysis on various activities and special projects as needed. LAFC operates on a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of 1-2 in-office days per week, with flexibility based on the supervisor's discretion. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, a self-motivator, and possess a strong work ethic, with the ability to analyze processes for improvements and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end close process, including preparation, review, and approval of all monthly journal entries, revenue recognition, and account reconciliations.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and financial deliverables, such as invoices and reports.
  • Perform initial review of monthly financial statements.
  • Analyze account activity including researching, identifying, and proposing corrections where appropriate.
  • Assist with annual audits (financial, tax, agreed-upon procedure) including samples, support schedules, analysis questions, and other requirements.
  • Develop an understanding of key financial processes to suggest and implement improvements.
  • Oversee the management of cash and assist with cash forecasts.
  • Manage accounts receivable and assist with accounts payable processes and transactions.
  • Provide financial analysis on various activities/special projects.
  • Work on other ad hoc projects and analyses as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited College/University in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an accounting role required, preferably within the sports/entertainment industry.
  • CPA preferred, not required.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct preferred, not required.
  • Detail-oriented and driven self-motivator with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to analyze processes and procedures to make improvements.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently - both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work productively and multi-task in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs (Excel, Access, Power Point, and Outlook).
  • Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Experience with Sage Intacct.
