About the position

The Accounting Manager at Plaskolite Inc. is responsible for overseeing and managing the general accounting functions of the organization. This includes a wide range of tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and tax compliance. The role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of financial principles to ensure that all accounting practices align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Accounting Manager will also play a crucial role in the quarterly and year-end financial audit activities, as well as the annual corporate financial controls audit, ensuring that all financial statements are accurate and complete. In addition to managing day-to-day accounting functions, the Accounting Manager will assess current practices and procedures, making recommendations for improvements where necessary. This position involves preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial statements, performing ad hoc analyses, and managing the budget process. The Accounting Manager will supervise and develop staff, setting performance goals, providing ongoing training, and fostering strong employee relationships. Collaboration with external auditors is also a key aspect of this role, ensuring timely and accurate closing and reporting at year-end. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all internal processes and developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures. This includes monitoring and analyzing accounting data to produce accurate and timely financial reports, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial data, and coordinating the preparation of internal and external financial statements. Furthermore, the role requires managing compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, as well as developing and managing financial systems and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
  • Help with quarterly and year-end financial audit activities and the annual corporate financial controls audit.
  • Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
  • Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions.
  • Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships.
  • Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end.
  • Prepare and manage the budget process.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal processes.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions are executed according to GAAP principles.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce accurate, timely financial reports.
  • Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
  • Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and manage financial systems and budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Proven expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with budget preparation and financial forecasting.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Working knowledge of short and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.
