About the position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for maximizing company profits and effectiveness while ensuring the integrity of financial representation. This role involves leading a team of accountants, overseeing financial operations, managing risk and internal controls, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The position requires collaboration with various departments to support strategic business plans and involves budgeting, forecasting, and reporting on financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 4/5 non-supervisory professionals in the accounting department.
  • Manage, train, and mentor a team of accountants to ensure productivity and a positive work environment.
  • Monitor ledger accounts and reconciliations related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll & Fixed Assets.
  • Administer the corporate retention policy for accounting documents.
  • Ensure employee compliance with accounting policies, particularly regarding expense reporting.
  • Oversee daily transactions and approve accounts payables and payroll-related disbursements.
  • Maintain user security and access to banking portals for Finance.
  • Assist in employee corporate credit card user maintenance.
  • Direct the accurate and timely recording of all financial transactional data.
  • Establish processes to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Develop accounting initiatives to improve operational efficiencies and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with Operations Managers to support strategic business plans with financial systems and reporting.
  • Coordinate with operational Managers to prepare annual budget worksheets.
  • Maintain budget consolidation and summary reporting for management and CFO.
  • Oversee the Cash, Financial, and Inventory Forecast processes.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close process, including allocation and closing entries.
  • Prepare internal and external accounting reports, including compliance reports for banking covenants.
  • Maintain expertise in U.S. GAAP accounting and implement new guidance as needed.
  • Assist with year-end closing and audits.

Requirements

  • A four-year Accounting degree or a four-year Business Administration Degree with concentration in Accounting.
  • A current and active Certified Public Accountant license.
  • A minimum of six years of related accounting or auditing experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Advanced Excel and basic Power BI.
  • Understanding of ERP Systems, with Microsoft Dynamics AX being a plus.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with various levels of employees.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
