About the position

The Accounting Manager at AAI/Spalding is responsible for overseeing accounting and finance operations at the Jefferson, Iowa facility. This role includes managing month-end financial statement closing activities, general ledger reconciliations, payroll processing, budget development, and financial reporting and analysis. The position ensures the accuracy of accounting records and recommends improvements for financial controls and compliance, working closely with corporate accounting and finance teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform general accounting activities including month and year-end accounting close.
• Prepare journal entries and conduct account reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Prepare and review operating and financial statements.
• Communicate analysis, results, and reports to management and Corporate Finance personnel.
• Compile and analyze information for new product costing and maintain cost information.
• Manage product pricing and provide margin analysis.
• Monitor daily business transactions including cash, accounts payable, bookings, and backlog listing, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
• Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with management, monitoring budget variances and providing insights.
• Process weekly payroll and submit data to Corporate for payment.
• Complete ad hoc and special projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• CPA is a plus.
• Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting methods.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Advanced MS Office skills required.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
