About the position

Our client in North Dallas is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team, presenting an exciting opportunity to work closely with leadership and contribute to the growth of the company. The Accounting Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the accounting functions, ensuring that all accounting and reporting activities are completed accurately and on time. This position involves managing a team of four accounting professionals, providing mentorship, and ensuring that the team meets its performance goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising, training, and mentoring the accounting team, conducting performance reviews, and participating in the hiring process as necessary. In addition to team management, the Accounting Manager will review the team's work and various transactions, manage accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) transactions, and ensure accurate processing. The role requires the manager to review open purchase orders (POs) and work to obtain vendor bills to resolve any discrepancies. The Accounting Manager will also be responsible for ensuring the resolution of client and vendor issues, maintaining reconciled accounts, and ensuring timely application of client payments while researching aging receivables. Communication and resolution of collections issues will also be part of the responsibilities. Furthermore, the manager will onboard new clients and provide necessary reporting as requested. Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing monthly accruals, reviewing financial and operational reports, preparing management reports, and explaining variances. The Accounting Manager will also prepare and review internal reporting for assigned lines of business, develop and manage new reports to support the organization's reporting needs, and participate in financial presentations. The role involves reviewing financial processes and internal controls, making recommendations for improvements, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SOX regulations. The Accounting Manager will identify and recommend process improvements to enhance margins and participate in any system upgrades or implementations, along with handling ad hoc projects as required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train and mentor accounting team, manage performance reviews and participate in the hiring process as needed
  • Review the teams' work and various transactions
  • Manage related A/P and A/R transactions and ensure accurate processing
  • Review open POs and work to obtain vendor bills to resolve
  • Ensure resolution of client and vendor issues, and that accounts are reconciled and current
  • Ensure timely application of client payments and research aging receivables
  • Communicate and resolving collections issues when needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting desired
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of full cycle accounting experience
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Demonstrated leadership and team supervision experience
  • Experience with various accounting systems and reporting tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Adaptable with strong critical thinking skills
  • Open to new ideas and process-oriented
  • Strong attention to detail and verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working effectively in a cross-functional environment
