About the position

The Accounting Manager at Crown Cork & Seal USA, Inc. is a key member of the plant management team responsible for ensuring the financial integrity of all activities within the plant. This role involves overseeing month-end closing processes, preparing journal entries, conducting variance analysis, managing budgets, and controlling inventory. The Accounting Manager collaborates closely with the plant manager and interacts daily with the Corporate Accounting group to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries to general ledger accounts documenting business transactions.
  • Prepares annual budget, annual standard cost updates, monthly and quarterly income projections, and monthly reports to management on financial performance and variance analysis.
  • Writes project funding requests and submits them for approval.
  • Processes costs for capital and C&A projects and provides tracking information to the plant manager.
  • Identifies control gaps and develops and implements appropriate control procedures to resolve deficiencies.
  • Assists in preparation for internal and external audits and conducts annual verification of manufacturing assets.
  • Organizes and performs annual physical inventory for all commodities with other staff members.
  • Oversees payroll and accounts payable functions, including scheduling and managing vacation payments and scheduling change requests for hourly employees.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts and GAAP.
  • Proven track record of working in a team environment with a variety of departments.
  • Experience working with an ERP system.
  • Three (3) years of plant manufacturing experience.
