About the position

We are offering a contract-to-hire opportunity for an Accounting Manager in Cincinnati, Ohio. This role is within the construction and real estate industry and will require occasional travel to different local job sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for various accounting tasks, strategic financial planning, and negotiation on behalf of the company. The Accounting Manager will manage and process over 25,000 transactions per building, including purchase orders, change orders, invoices, and checks. This position will also be responsible for job costing and construction in progress accounting, proactively investigating and addressing financial variances, and negotiating payment terms on a project-by-project basis, ensuring they are tracked manually and reconciled accurately in the system. In addition, the Accounting Manager will analyze cash flow and present a 6-week look ahead, present financial analysis and reports to leadership, prepare year-end 1099's, and oversee the accounts of approximately 100 subcontractors and vendors. Regular reporting on accounts receivable will be required, along with utilizing QuickBooks and project management software. The role will involve performing a mix of clerical, day-to-day tasks and strategic, higher-level analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and processing over 25,000 transactions per building including purchase orders, change orders, invoices, and checks.

  • Proactively investigating and addressing financial variances.
  • Negotiating payment terms on a project-by-project basis, ensuring they are tracked manually and reconciled accurately in the system.

  • Presenting financial analysis and reports to leadership.
  • Preparing year-end 1099's.
  • Overseeing the accounts of approximately 100 subcontractors and vendors.
  • Regularly providing reports on accounts receivable.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in accounting, financial reporting, and Month End Close processes
  • Ability to create and interpret Cash Flow Forecasts and Cash Forecasting reports
  • Knowledge of Job Cost management and understanding of percentage (%) of completion
  • Experience in Construction Accounting and managing Construction Projects related to Accounting
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
