About the position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to mentor junior staff. The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in driving financial performance and supporting strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
• Manage general ledger reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation processes.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required by governing bodies.
• Lead tax planning and compliance efforts, ensuring timely filing of all tax returns.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to accounting staff, fostering professional development.
• Collaborate with other departments to support financial planning and analysis initiatives.
• Utilize PeopleSoft for financial reporting and data management.
• Conduct technical accounting research to address complex accounting issues as they arise.
• Prepare detailed financial report writing for internal stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to LIHTC regulations where applicable.

Requirements

• Proficient in general ledger reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation techniques.
• Knowledge of LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) regulations is preferred.
• Strong mentoring skills with the ability to develop junior staff members effectively.
• Experience in financial report writing with a focus on clarity and accuracy.
• Familiarity with PeopleSoft or similar ERP systems is essential.
• Understanding of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in Quicken or similar accounting software is a plus.
• Ability to perform regulatory reporting accurately and timely.
• Strong technical accounting skills to navigate complex accounting scenarios.
