About the position

The Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting Manager at Vacasa is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of the company's financial reporting and technical accounting processes. This role involves researching complex accounting issues, implementing new accounting standards, and preparing financial statements. The Manager will collaborate closely with various departments to ensure the integrity of financial information and support the Head of Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting in maintaining robust financial reporting practices.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with SEC reporting requirements, including the preparation of 10-Q and 10-K filings.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, statements of changes in equity, and footnotes.
  • Coordinate and manage the external audit process, acting as a main point of contact for external auditors.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of management reports generated from Company financial statements for other Finance functions (e.g., CFO, FP&A, Investor Relations).
  • Assist with developing and maintaining robust internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Research and interpret complex accounting issues, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other applicable standards.
  • Provide guidance and draft memos on technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, business combinations, equity transactions, capitalized software, inventory, and financial instruments.
  • Assist in documentation and maintenance of critical accounting policies and procedures to ensure they reflect current regulations and best practices.
  • Implement new accounting standards and ensure their proper application across the organization.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
  • CPA certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in a public accounting firm, or consulting/advisory or public company experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in technical accounting areas such as revenue recognition, lease accounting, business combinations, equity transactions, capitalized software, and financial instruments.
