About the position

The Accounting Manager will oversee the Accounting Division at the Trident Refit Facility in Bangor, WA. This role involves supervising a team of Financial/Accounting Technicians, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, and enhancing financial operations. The position requires a strong background in accounting principles and practices, as well as the ability to lead and improve accounting functions such as Accounts Payable and Cost Accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first level supervisor for a team of Financial/Accounting Technicians.
  • Plan, direct, and supervise accounting activities in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Perform professional accounting work applying accounting theories and standards for financial activities.
  • Develop, direct, and coordinate operations of the assigned Accounting Branch.
  • Ensure operational control of accounting functions, including Accounts Payable and Cost Accounting.
  • Align accounting operations with continuous financial improvement and audit readiness.
  • Conduct routine internal program reviews and recommend program improvements for regulatory compliance.
  • Implement process changes to enhance efficiency.
  • Assign priorities, evaluate performance, and make hiring decisions for key positions.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • A degree in accounting or a related field with 24 semester hours in accounting, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to 4 years in accounting.
  • Must achieve Financial Management Level II certification within prescribed timelines.
  • Required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial management systems and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of government accounting standards and regulations.
