About the position

The Accounting Manager at CPI Card Group will be responsible for overseeing the execution of accounting processes and supporting accounts payable functions. This role encompasses critical areas such as month-end close, internal controls, and compliance with company policies and procedures. The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Director of Accounting and will lead a team of multiple individuals, playing a key leadership role in ensuring that CPI provides accurate financial information for investors, lenders, and other internal and external stakeholders. This position requires close collaboration with leadership from finance and plant operations to ensure seamless operations and reporting. In this role, the Accounting Manager will manage the accounting close and reporting processes, which includes approving monthly journal entries, management reporting packages, and account reconciliations. The individual will execute internal controls and processes designed to effectively address financial reporting risks identified under the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will oversee the timely and accurate execution of key accounting processes, specifically accounts payable, treasury, payroll, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, leases, prepaid expenses, and overall monthly management reporting in accordance with SEC filing timelines. The Accounting Manager will also review journal entries related to estimates and management judgments, including allowances, reserves, obsolescence, bonus and incentive plan accruals, management fees, transfer pricing, and other allocations. A significant part of this role involves training and developing team members to ensure they have a proper understanding and application of accounting guidance, policies, and practices. Furthermore, the Accounting Manager will maintain significant involvement and support during the annual bank audit, internal audit, and external financial statement audit, including documentation requests and explanations. Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting close and reporting processes, including approving monthly journal entries, management reporting packages and account reconciliations.
  • Execute on internal controls and processes designed to effectively address financial reporting risks identified under the Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) program.
  • Oversee timely and accurate execution of key accounting processes, specifically accounts payable, treasury, payroll, fixed assets, intercompany, leases, prepaid expenses and overall monthly management reporting in accordance with SEC filing timelines.
  • Review journal entries related to estimates and management judgements including allowances, reserves and obsolescence; bonus and incentive plan accruals; management fees, transfer pricing and other allocations.
  • Train and develop team members to ensure appropriate understanding and application of accounting guidance and policies and practices.
  • Maintain significant involvement and support of the annual bank audit, internal audit, and external financial statement audit and quarterly reviews, including documentation requests and explanations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required, and CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting and/or public company accounting
  • Experience with the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the COSO internal control framework
  • Wide range of general ledger/ERP experience preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills - comfortable utilizing sumif, lookup functions and pivot tables
  • Exceptional management and team building skills; ability to hire, supervise, mentor and train employees
  • Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within time constraints
  • Elementary English proficiency communication skills necessary.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with core financial systems (ERP, HFM, BI, Excel, etc.) and other analytical tools to support meaningful analysis and recommendation.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for system implementations and upgrades, as well as other operational efficiency projects.
