About the position

The Accounting Manager at Par Pacific is a pivotal role within a growth-oriented energy company, responsible for developing and refining accounting processes and procedures. This position acts as a business partner to operations and liaises with corporate accounting, providing visibility and autonomy in a dynamic environment. The role involves ensuring compliance with financial regulations, supporting audits, and preparing various financial reports while managing change and assisting with projects as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure transactions that comprise balances are clearly identified and supported, and that monthly activity is appropriate given the nature of the account.
  • Maintain compliance with SOX and recommend improvements for increased financial accuracy and streamlined processes.
  • Provide assistance with internal and external audit requests.
  • Prepare various reports and statements as required and requested.
  • Assist with projects as necessary.
  • Manage change and serve as an extra hand-on-deck with daily execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related area; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for complex, multi-site accounting functions; experience with c-stores and/or gas stations is preferred.
  • Strong supervisory experience, with the ability to manage, mentor, and coach.
  • Solid experience with financial tools required; SAP and/or PDI highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., complex/compound spreadsheets; VLOOKUPs, HLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Ability to work effectively with Corporate, meeting all required goals and deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to retail sites and other Par Pacific locations as needed, with anticipated travel to be less than 10%.
  • Outstanding organization and prioritization skills with strict attention to detail.
  • Ability to adjust work schedule to accommodate expected and unexpected changes.
  • CPA or CMA highly preferred.
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry; retail experience a plus.
