About the position

The position involves directing the consolidation of monthly financial and operating statements, coordinating the maintenance of the accounting system, and compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare reports. The role requires consulting with employees across various facets of the Finance department, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, Payroll, and Information Systems, to resolve accounting issues. Additionally, the position entails preparing departmental budgets and financial forecasts, auditing accounts and ledgers for accuracy, and establishing and modifying accounting control procedures. The individual will also provide training and assistance to accounting personnel, review financial statements, and assist with software-related issues. The role includes direct supervision of the Accounting Analyst and carries supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the consolidation of monthly financial and operating statements by coordinating the monthly maintenance of the accounting system.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare reports.
  • Consults with employees in all facets of the Finance department, including A/P, A/R, Tax, Payroll, and IS in solving accounting issues.
  • Coordinates and prepares schedules requested by the Annual Financial Auditors.
  • Prepares departmental budgets and financial forecasting monthly.
  • Audits accounts, ledgers, and reports substantiating individual transactions to verify accuracy.
  • Establishes, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
  • Provides training and assistance to accounting personnel at the station level.
  • Reviews and analyzes all the financial statements, makes adjustments and consults with the department managers.
  • Assists with all software and computer related issues including software installations and assistance to employees.
  • Prepares custom made reporting as assigned by GM to better analyze the business and operations.
  • Helps to answer questions from every manager/supervisor.
  • Directly supervises the Accounting Analyst.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Assists with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Adheres to local, State, and Federal safety policies, and company rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Excel.
  • Solid understanding of general accounting concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills balanced with a high level of confidence to influence and present at all levels.
  • Independence, decisiveness, and the ability to work accurately and independent of immediate support.
  • Must comply with local airport, FAA and/or U.S. Customs safety, security, and identification requirements and pass a thorough security background check.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to proficiently read, write and speak English.
  • Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
