About the position

The Accounting Manager at Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park, plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of Finance and the Assistant Director of Finance in leading the Accounting and Finance department. This position is essential in ensuring that the hotel and the Finance department adhere to ACCOR policies and standards. The Accounting Manager will be actively involved in completing various reporting and billing requirements, which are vital for the smooth operation of the hotel’s financial activities. In this role, the Accounting Manager will assist with the monthly hotel reporting processes, ensuring that all financial data is accurate and submitted in a timely manner. They will also be responsible for ensuring that the hotel and company billing and credit procedures are properly implemented and followed. A significant part of the job involves completing and reconciling monthly balance sheet reconciliations, which will be reviewed by the Director of Finance. All backup documentation and reconciling items must be meticulously prepared and submitted for review. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will act as a backup to the Payroll Manager, providing support in payroll processing and related tasks. The role requires flexibility, as the Accounting Manager may also be called upon to assist in other areas of the accounting office as needed. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of maintaining a clean and efficient work environment while upholding the high standards of Fairmont Chicago.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly hotel reporting
  • Ensure hotel/company billing/credit procedures are in place
  • Complete and reconcile monthly balance sheet reconciliations for review by Director of Finance
  • Submit all backup and reconciling items for review
  • Act as backup to the Payroll Manager
  • Assist in other areas of the accounting office as requested

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an accounting role required
  • University/College degree in a related discipline preferred
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
  • Familiar with frequently used standard operating procedures
  • Basic knowledge of how to use a computer and Microsoft software
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Knowledge of basic office machinery
  • Maintain a well-groomed appearance
