The Accounting Manager position at Aston Carter involves overseeing the accounting function and ensuring the integrity of financial processes within a leading industrial contractor in North Carolina. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to manage accounting workflows, provide updates on financial status, and implement strong operating controls. The ideal candidate will have significant accounting experience and the ability to lead a team effectively.

Responsibilities

• Manage the accounting function and ensure its integrity for the organization.
• Lead and manage the Accounting Department, ensuring accurate and timely daily processing.
• Provide weekly status updates to Operations regarding billing results, committed costs, and pending invoices.
• Cross-train and provide backup for all accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, and Payroll.
• Develop, optimize, and implement strong operating/accounting controls and processes.
• Train accounting teammates in proper accounting processes, policies, and internal controls.
• Monitor and assess current tools and reports for system and process enhancements.
• Perform routine audits to ensure procedural compliance.
• Maintain subcontractor documentation and compliance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of accounting experience required.
• Experience working within the general ledger, making journal entries and month-end close.
• Experience with fixed assets and job costing.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and v look-ups.
