About the position

The Accounting Manager position at Aston Carter in Tampa, FL, focuses on managing financial operations for one or more branches, ensuring compliance with GAAP accounting principles, and executing the SOX program. The role involves preparing monthly financial forecasts, collaborating with senior leadership, and maintaining strong relationships with branch teams. The ideal candidate will have a solid financial background, particularly in the construction industry, and possess strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand and execute the SOX program consistently.
• Close the month for one or more branches each month following a closing calendar.
• Prepare a monthly financial forecast in collaboration with the branch senior leadership team.
• Review job cost data weekly and work with the branch to make corrections or adjustments when necessary.
• Participate in various meetings and provide ad hoc reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field AND 4+ years of relevant, job-related experience OR 6+ years of relevant, job-related experience in the construction industry (without a degree).
• Well-rounded financial background, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and interpreting financial data.
• Strong communication skills, analytical ability, and attention to detail.
• Capacity to successfully execute job tasks in a fast-paced environment under limited supervision.
• Previous financial experience in the construction industry.
• Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.

Nice-to-haves

• Functional knowledge of the Work In Progress (WIP) schedule.
• Viewpoint construction software experience.
• Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX 404) experience.
