About the position

Kforce has a client in Washington, DC that is seeking an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of financial statements and reports for both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements. This role involves managing and preparing Form 990 and other required tax filings for the hospital system, coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely submissions. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will maintain lease schedules and ensure accurate recording of lease assets and liabilities in accordance with ASC 842 Lease Accounting. The position also requires oversight of revenue recognition standards in accordance with ASC 606, ensuring accurate recognition of revenue and compliance with healthcare revenue recognition policies. The Accounting Manager will assist in the development and management of budgets and forecasts, analyzing financial performance and providing insights to support strategic decision-making. Furthermore, this role includes supervising and mentoring accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure effective performance and professional development while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role within a healthcare or non-profit organization
  • Strong knowledge of Form 990 preparation and filing requirements
  • Expertise in ASC 842 lease accounting and ASC 606 revenue recognition standards
  • Proficient in financial software and accounting systems
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven leadership abilities and experience in managing and developing a team
