About the position

The Accounting Manager position is a critical role within the facility management team, responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of operations accounting. This position plays a key role in ensuring the financial health of the organization by preparing and directing the preparation of reports that summarize business activity, operational expenses, and variances. The Accounting Manager will assist in the development of internal control procedures, standards, and compliance measures to safeguard company assets and ensure proper segregation of duties. In addition to these responsibilities, the Accounting Manager will manage the accounting function at the location, ensuring cross-training and adequate coverage across all functions while promoting appropriate staff development. This includes coordinating the preparation of yearly budgets and being responsible for the preparation of weekly and monthly financial reports, as well as variance reporting. The role also involves reconciling balance sheet accounts as assigned and managing payroll functions effectively. The Accounting Manager will work closely with both internal and external audit agencies to ensure compliance with quarterly and annual income statements and will be responsible for maintaining inventory controls and accuracy. This position requires a proactive approach to financial management and a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. The Accounting Manager will be expected to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, providing leadership and guidance to ensure the success of the accounting department.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing or directing preparation of reports summarizing business activity, operational expenses, and variances.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years experience in combined operational accounting.
  • Knowledge of SAP or comparable ERP system, Excel, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to examine and verify financial documents and reports.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of financial statements, reports, and analyses.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, methods, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations governing fiscal recordkeeping.
  • Understanding of payroll, general ledger, accounts payable, and cost accounting.
  • Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong leadership and team skills.
  • Knowledge of principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
