About the position

The Accounting Manager at Select Medical is responsible for overseeing the monthly financial close process for the Inpatient Rehabilitation division. This role involves managing accounting staff, ensuring internal control objectives are met, and handling routine accounting transactions to deliver high-quality financial reporting for the division.

Responsibilities

• Produces accurate and timely financials for facilities within the division through detailed balance sheet and P&L analysis and monitoring of balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manages internal and external audits and completes requests timely and accurately.
• Maintains internal controls in the department.
• Supports operational finance and hospital management with timely and accurate information.
• Promotes best practices and continuous improvement of processes and procedures within the department.
• Ensures direct reports have received and continue to receive the necessary training and support necessary to accomplish departmental objectives.
• Ensures stability throughout the department through building employee engagement, effective talent assessment and succession planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience required
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting principles required
• Advanced proficiency with MS Excel and the Microsoft Office suite required
• Experience with large scale financial systems (Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP) required

Nice-to-haves

• CPA and/or related advanced degree preferred
• Healthcare industry accounting experience preferred
