About the position

Century Group is partnering with a client who is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team. This role is pivotal in overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all accounting practices. The Accounting Manager will supervise a control team of five members, guiding them through the monthly accounting close process. This includes the review and approval of accruals, reversals, and amortization entries, which are critical for maintaining the integrity of financial reporting. The successful candidate will also conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations for various accounts, including prepaid expenses, accounts payable accruals, and tax withholding accounts. In addition to these responsibilities, the Accounting Manager will analyze and forecast organizational expenses, managing the full-cycle accounts payable process. This involves reviewing invoices and expense reimbursements, ensuring timely payment processing, and maintaining effective communication with vendors and colleagues regarding accounting inquiries. The role also requires the preparation of quarterly and annual state and federal filings, making it essential for the candidate to have a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, along with a CPA certification. A minimum of 10 years of experience in expense control is required, with at least 3 years in a management role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is essential, as is experience in the financial services sector, specifically within broker/dealer environments. Excellent communication and presentation skills are necessary for effective cross-departmental collaboration, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities. The Accounting Manager must be highly organized, capable of managing multiple projects and priorities efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a control team of five members.
  • Oversee the monthly accounting close for the expense control team, including the review and approval of accruals, reversals, and amortization entries.
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations for various prepaid, AP accrual, and tax withholding accounts.
  • Analyze and forecast organizational expenses while managing the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice and expense reimbursement review and payment processing.
  • Manage communications with vendors and colleagues on invoice, payable/expense accounting inquiries, withholding payments, and quarterly/annual state and federal filings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • CPA certification required.
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • 10+ years of experience in expense control.
  • 3+ years in a management role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel).
  • Experience in Financial Services, specifically broker/dealer.
