The Accounting Manager is a specialized position within CHN, a $28 million nonprofit organization located in Tampa, Florida. This role is crucial for leading, directing, and managing various financial recording and reporting functions of the Fiscal Department. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for producing periodic financial reports, maintaining an adequate system of accounting records, and implementing a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results. The position requires a detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated individual who can thrive in a complex, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment. The Accounting Manager will oversee the supervision of the Payroll Specialist and Accounts Payable Supervisor, ensuring that all areas of supervision perform optimally and efficiently by employing best practices for procedures, processes, and technology. This includes maintaining the chart of accounts, reviewing and approving payables, payroll, taxes, benefits, and pension expenses, and ensuring that all financial transactions are documented accurately. The role also involves performing bank account reconciliations, overseeing monthly and year-end financial activity recording, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and FASB standards. In addition to financial reporting and budgeting responsibilities, the Accounting Manager will play a key role in human resources by ensuring effective employee development, discipline, and recognition programs are implemented. The position requires strong leadership skills to select, supervise, and train direct reports while maintaining efficient workflows in accounting and payroll activities. The Accounting Manager will also assist with audit preparations, maintain accounting software, and ensure that all financial and payroll transactions are recorded in accordance with applicable governmental rules and regulations. This position will initially start fully in-office and transition to a hybrid model once the individual is fully independent and performing successfully in the role.
