About the position

The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, supervising accounting staff, and preparing for audits under the direction of the Controller. This role requires flexibility in job assignments and collaboration with various departments to maintain efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Supervise the Accounting Supervisor and Staff Accountant I s.
  • Assist in audit preparation and compliance reporting.
  • Ensure accurate accounting for various entities and manage month-end close processes.
  • Review monthly accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Oversee the monthly revenue calculation process for agreements funded by SANDAG.
  • Prepare the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and related schedules.
  • Work closely with external auditors to provide necessary documentation.
  • Implement new accounting standards as required by GASB.
  • Oversee 1099 Reporting and other tax-related reporting.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in finance or accounting; master's degree and CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of six to eight years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably in governmental accounting.
  • Excellent knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and governmental financial reporting.
  • Strong skills in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MTS policies and regulations.
  • Knowledge of SAP and PRONTO systems.
