The Accounting Manager position at Boston Medical Center is a critical role that requires a deep understanding of hospital finance and accounting processes. The individual in this role will be responsible for maintaining the monthly expense tracking document for the Population Health Services (PHS) division, ensuring that all spending related to PHS initiatives is accurately accounted for in the appropriate accounts and entities. This includes managing the monthly close process for PHS and ensuring compliance with any internal or externally mandated spending policies or guidelines. The Accounting Manager will also review monthly variances to budget and initiate corrective actions as necessary, process invoices and purchase orders for PHS expenses, and provide education and assistance to PHS operational leaders regarding financial policies and procedures. In addition to these responsibilities, the Accounting Manager will prepare ACO member invoices and associated supporting documentation, assist in the annual budget preparation for BMCHS PHS, and help identify existing PHS programs within BMCHS for review by PHS leadership. The role also involves preparing routine monthly internal reporting, as well as any necessary ad-hoc or external reporting. The individual will need to read and understand the State's guidance on DSRIP and Population Health funding and reporting, and participate in quarterly community health center analysis, revenue recognition projects, and other accounting and finance projects as needed. Other duties may be assigned as required. This position requires a collaborative approach, as the Accounting Manager will work closely with various stakeholders across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills, along with the ability to manage discussions and meetings related to project work, anticipate stakeholder needs, and develop clear agendas and communication for next steps and deliverables.
