About the position

David Weekley Homes is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join the Accounting and Finance team at our Houston home office located at I-10 Katy Freeway and 610. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Accounting, team member development, project management, and leadership. This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial health of the organization and requires a proactive approach to managing a team and overseeing financial reporting processes. As an Accounting Manager, you will lead, manage, and develop a team of five professionals to accomplish team objectives. You will oversee the timely and accurate preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, as well as ad hoc analysis. Conducting variance analysis of division, region, and consolidated financial statements will be a key responsibility, along with reviewing and posting journal entries daily. You will also review balance sheet account reconciliations and budget revisions on a monthly basis. In addition, you will coordinate the annual budget process, supporting operations managers in understanding and reporting their budgets. Identifying and driving process improvements will be essential, as you will work with existing automation tools and facilitate the development and transition to new tools. Responding to questions from operations and senior management in a timely manner while providing a high level of support will be crucial to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop a team of 5 to accomplish team objectives

Requirements

  • Four year degree in Accounting required
  • At least 5 years of management experience in an Accounting field
  • At least 3 years of financial analysis experience
  • Strong technical skills and ability to pick up new things quickly
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Comfortable working with all levels of management
  • Ability to recognize and adapt communication style to needs of recipient
  • Strong commitment to provide superior customer service

Nice-to-haves

  • JDEdwards and Essbase experience a plus
