In this role, you will lead the charge in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with precision and flair. You will take ownership of key balance sheet and income statement accounts, ensuring every detail is reconciled perfectly. Upholding and enhancing internal control policies and procedures will be a critical part of your responsibilities, ensuring that every transaction is above board. You will also be tasked with developing and maintaining cutting-edge accounting policies and procedures that align with our organizational goals. As a key player in our financial operations, you will partner with our CFO to spearhead the annual financial audit, crafting supporting schedules and providing fieldwork support. Your expertise will extend to facilitating the preparation of annual tax returns, ensuring all supporting schedules are impeccable. You will manage annual contract obligations, including monthly lease and rental payments, with meticulous attention. Additionally, you will dive deep into accounting positions, researching, developing, and documenting key insights that will contribute to our financial strategies. Your role will also involve attending Board Finance, Investment, and Audit Committee meetings, capturing and documenting critical discussions to keep our leadership informed. In the realm of finance management, you will prepare and consolidate the annual budget and rolling 12-month cash forecast, guiding our financial future. Conducting monthly and quarterly variance analyses will be essential, as you offer sharp insights on budget-to-actual comparisons for each department. You will oversee financial analysis and provide oversight for conservation transactions and grant-funded projects, ensuring that our financial practices are both effective and compliant.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with precision and flair.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, and/or business management.
  • Deep working knowledge of GAAP and 2 CFR 200 requirements.
  • At least 5 years of accounting experience in a dynamic business setting, preferably within a non-profit organization.
  • Experience in fund accounting or managing public grant funds and reporting.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks, ensuring smooth and efficient financial operations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with the ability to review and synthesize financial information.
  • Strong analytical skills that drive insightful financial decision-making.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team, fostering a supportive and dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to effectively convey financial information.
