About the position

The Accounting Manager will oversee various accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and revenue and asset accounting. This role is crucial for producing accurate financial reports, maintaining internal controls, and ensuring compliance with tax reporting requirements. The manager will coordinate with external CPA firms for tax filings and audits, while also mentoring team members and improving accounting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and support for daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and Cost Accounting Standards.
  • Evaluate and improve accounting processes to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
  • Mentor team members and support professional development.
  • Maintain an effective internal control environment and manage all financial aspects.
  • Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports as requested.
  • Analyze costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to predict future revenues and expenses.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of federal and state tax filings and annual reports.
  • Support review procedures performed by external accounting firms.
  • Assist with merger and acquisition activities, including due diligence and integration efforts.
  • Perform other ad hoc projects as necessary.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in a business accounting role.
  • 1-3 years of management/supervisory experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
