About the position

The Accounting Manager at Aston Carter is responsible for overseeing the General Accounting functions, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, and managing the accounting staff. This role involves supervising the A/P and A/R teams, developing team members, and collaborating with the VP on departmental goals and internal control policies. The position requires strong leadership skills and a focus on fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the General Accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Receipts, Fixed Assets, and Lease Accounting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal control policies.
  • Supervise and support the Accounting, A/P, and A/R teams, providing backup as needed.
  • Develop team members through performance management, training, and fostering strong employee relationships.
  • Manage Sales & Use Tax Return filings.
  • Generate monthly A/R metrics reports.
  • Assist the VP with monthly and year-end closing activities to ensure timely financial statement generation.
  • Handle Fixed Asset accounting and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the VP to develop departmental goals and update internal control policies and procedures.
  • Manage the accounting staff responsible for financial reporting, billing, and collections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in General Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and Sage Fixed Assets is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office suite.
