The Accounting Manager position at Ohio Northern University is primarily responsible for the analysis of financial information and the preparation of appropriate financial reports. This financial information is crucial for the preparation of entries into the general ledger and for documenting business transactions. The role encompasses analyzing financial information related to assets, liabilities, and capital, as well as preparing reports that summarize the current and projected financial position of the University. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will supervise the accounts payable process and assist with post-award grant accounting, ensuring that all financial activities align with the University's goals and compliance requirements. In this role, the Accounting Manager will prepare monthly financial statements and report packages, perform month-end reconciliations of various general ledger accounts, and prepare collegiate surveys and reports as directed by the Controller. The position also involves overseeing the fixed asset accounting system and performing analysis and reconciliation of various financial accounts, including bank accounts, investment accounts, payroll, and inventory systems. The Accounting Manager will assist in the monthly and fiscal year-end financial closing process and related statement preparation, as well as support the Controller during financial audits by preparing year-end working papers and schedules for the University’s annual audit. Moreover, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns, acting as a general resource for finance inquiries, and assisting in financial system implementation projects. The role includes overseeing and coordinating the work of accounting staff members, supervising the accounts payable process, and providing assistance with post-award grant accounting. This position requires a strong commitment to service, support, and transparency to the University community, along with the ability to handle sensitive fiscal issues with confidentiality.
