About the position

The Accounting Manager at ASM Global Jacksonville is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting functions at the venues, ensuring compliance with financial management, budgeting, and accounting standards as directed by the Director of Facility Accounting. This role involves supervising payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and preparing financial reports, while also managing a team within the Finance Department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of facility goals and priorities relating to financial management, budget, accounting, purchasing, and payroll.
  • Supervise payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other accounting functions and personnel.
  • Prepare and perform or assist with event settlements.
  • Prepare and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Supervise and assist with the preparation of all financial reporting, including financial statements and other reports to ASM Jacksonville, ASM Corporate, and the City of Jacksonville.
  • Direct the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
  • Maintain general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records.
  • Verify and check the accuracy of general ledger coding.
  • Direct and participate in cost analyses and rate studies.
  • Prepare and analyze information for financial statements and reports.
  • Prepare statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis for each department.
  • Direct internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
  • Coordinate preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
  • Establish system controls for new financial systems and develop procedures to improve existing systems.
  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in public accounting and/or financial management at a supervisory level or as a department head.
  • Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting.
  • Excellent math skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff including management and clients.
  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information.
  • Effective supervisory skills.
  • Superior knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision and to interact with all levels of staff including management.
  • Ability to work irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include day, evening, weekends, and holidays.
