About the position

Virtua Health is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their joint venture team, focusing on the growth and financial management of the organization. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Accounting Manager will be responsible for completing month-end financial statements and all supporting documentation for balance sheet accounts, while also reviewing and monitoring financial statements prepared by external sources. This position involves coordinating month-end calls to discuss financial results with management, preparing consolidated financial reports, and monitoring key performance indicators against budget and prior year results. In addition to financial reporting, the Accounting Manager will assist with internal audits and review year-end tax returns prepared by third-party accountants for completeness. The role also includes managing and coordinating the annual budget process in collaboration with operational leaders, ensuring that financial controls are in place for all centers. Leadership is a key component of this position, as the Accounting Manager will provide day-to-day direction to the finance staff, checking for thoroughness in their work and empowering them to recommend process improvements. The individual will also prepare periodic and special financial analyses to support decision-making and assist operational managers in understanding their monthly financial performance. Furthermore, the Accounting Manager will play a role in due diligence for the acquisition of new centers and will serve as the system administrator for various financial systems, ensuring a thorough knowledge of general accounting systems is maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Complete month-end financial statements and supporting documentation for balance sheet accounts in compliance with GAAP.
  • Review and monitor financial statements prepared by outside sources.
  • Coordinate month-end calls to discuss financial results with management.

  • Provide leadership and day-to-day direction to finance staff.

  • Support operational managers in understanding their monthly financial performance.
  • Assist with due diligence on the acquisition of new centers.
  • Serve as system administrator for various financial systems.

Requirements

  • Five to seven years of accounting or finance experience with one to three years of supervisory experience required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting practice and theory, specifically GAAP.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve goals and prioritize work assignments.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Thorough knowledge of general ledger software packages.
  • Bachelor's of Business Administration in Accounting or Finance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification as public or managerial accountant.
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration in a related field.
