About the position

The Accounting Manager is a pivotal role within the Finance Department, responsible for overseeing the financial accounting and reporting functions of the organization. This position ensures the accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting of financial information, which is critical for informed decision-making and strategic planning. The Accounting Manager will prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, while conducting financial analysis to provide insights to senior management. Compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls related to financial reporting is a key responsibility of this role. In addition to financial reporting, the Accounting Manager will oversee the general ledger management, ensuring the maintenance of the general ledger system, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes. This includes reviewing and approving journal entries, implementing internal controls to safeguard assets, and preventing fraud. The role also encompasses managing the accounts payable and accounts receivable teams, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections, while cultivating positive relationships with vendors and customers. The Accounting Manager will coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and government filings. Developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures in accordance with best practices is also a critical function of this position. As a leader, the Accounting Manager will supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment to achieve departmental objectives. This role requires a proactive approach to additional tasks as required, ensuring the finance team operates efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to senior management to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls related to financial reporting.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger system, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
  • Review and approve journal entries, ensuring proper coding and documentation of transactions.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
  • Oversee AP and AR teams in processing invoices, payments, and collections in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital management, optimizing payment terms and collections strategies.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with vendors and customers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, reporting requirements, and government filings.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in accordance with best practices and industry standards.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to ensure workload balance and goal attainment.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) required.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including consolidation of multiple legal entities.
  • Experience with accounting for mergers & acquisitions.
  • Experience managing the annual external audit.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel knowledge.
  • Proficient with accounting software such as NetSuite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Requires proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
