About the position

Ulteig is seeking a qualified Accounting Manager to join our fast-paced and rapidly growing company. This position will report directly to the Corporate Controller and will play a crucial role in overseeing the month-end and year-end close processes, as well as the preparation and review of financial statements and analyses. The Accounting Manager will also facilitate financial audits and tax return preparation while managing the daily activities of the accounting team. This role requires a transformative leader who can champion process improvements, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to building a positive team culture. In this position, you will lead and review the work of staff, exercising consistent responsibility for management and supervisory functions. This includes interviewing, training, managing team hours and workload, evaluating employee performance, and addressing any employee complaints or issues. You will mentor and develop accounting team members to foster continuous professional development and growth. Establishing and maintaining accounting policies and processes will be a key responsibility, as will collaborating with leaders under the Corporate Controller team to build and maintain internal controls. The Accounting Manager will oversee the month-end closing process, ensuring compliance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). You will provide accurate and timely financial reporting and analyses to assist leadership in making informed financial and economic decisions. Working closely with senior leadership, general managers, and department heads, you will interpret and understand monthly, quarterly, and annual financial KPIs and operational/financial metrics. Additionally, you will interact with internal and external parties to provide accurate financial information and resolve conflicts, all while handling confidential data with discretion and judgment. This role requires collaboration with individuals at all levels within the organization, overseeing financial and Federal Acquisition Regulation audits, ensuring tax compliance for state US income tax, sales & use tax, and Canadian GST/HST. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing accounting best practices in processes, policies, and procedures to ensure optimal efficiency and an excellent client experience. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • 7+ years of related work experience required.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant required.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Experience with MS Dynamics365 preferred.
  • Strong analytical skillset and aptitude to solve complex problems.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle confidential matters.
  • Effective leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal/written communications, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines by setting priorities.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, rapidly growing organization.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and GAAP.
  • Authorization to work permanently in the US.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with financial software other than MS Dynamics365.
