About the position

The Accounting Manager at Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park, plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance in leading the Accounting/Finance department. This position is essential in ensuring that the hotel and Finance department adhere to ACCOR policies while actively participating in the completion of reporting and billing requirements. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for various financial tasks that contribute to the overall financial health of the hotel, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all financial dealings. In this role, the Accounting Manager will assist with monthly hotel reporting, ensuring that all financial data is accurately compiled and presented. They will also be responsible for ensuring that hotel and company billing and credit procedures are effectively implemented and followed. A significant part of the job involves completing and reconciling monthly balance sheet reconciliations, which will be reviewed by the Director of Finance. All backup documentation and reconciling items must be meticulously prepared and submitted for review. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will act as a backup to the Payroll Manager, providing support in payroll processing and related tasks. The role requires flexibility, as the Accounting Manager must be prepared to assist in other areas of the accounting office as requested, demonstrating a collaborative spirit and a willingness to contribute to the team's success.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly hotel reporting
  • Ensure hotel/company billing/credit procedures are in place
  • Complete and reconcile monthly balance sheet reconciliations for review by Director of Finance, all back up and reconciling items to be submitted
  • Act as back up to the Payroll Manager
  • Assist in other areas of the accounting office as requested

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an accounting role required
  • University/College degree in a related discipline preferred
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
  • Familiar with frequently used standard operating procedures
  • Basic knowledge of how to use a computer and Microsoft software
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Knowledge of basic office machinery
  • Maintain a well-groomed appearance
