About the position

Kelly Services is seeking an Accounting Manager for a permanent, onsite role in Niles, Illinois. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including the preparation, examination, and analysis of accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports. This role requires a keen analytical mind to assess business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses effectively. The Accounting Manager will direct monthly closing activities, including the creation of Excel-based reports and management reporting packages. A critical aspect of this role involves performing general ledger account analysis and evaluating financial statements and reports for accuracy, identifying problem areas, and suggesting methods for correction. The successful candidate will assist in preparing annual budgets and monthly forecasts, support accounts receivable invoicing and credit functions, and maintain a fixed asset log with depreciation and lapsing schedules for both book and tax purposes. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will monitor and report daily cash flow, assist with the day-to-day management of the Accounting Department, and provide staff with support and guidance in meeting departmental goals and objectives. The role also includes updating cost rates and standards in the system periodically for accuracy, monitoring and providing external auditors with all necessary information for thorough and accurate reviews or audits, and ensuring monthly sales tax compliance. The Accounting Manager will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, and assigned, and provide accounting support and assistance for other departments as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports.
  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses.
  • Direct monthly closing activities including Excel-based reports and management reporting packages.
  • Perform GL account analysis.
  • Evaluate the financial statements and reports for accuracy and identify problem areas and suggested methods of correction.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts for the company.
  • Support the AR invoicing and credit function.
  • Maintain fixed asset log with depreciation and lapsing schedules for both book and tax.
  • Monitor and report daily cash flow.
  • Assist with the day-to-day management of the Accounting Department and provide staff with support and guidance in meeting departmental goals and objectives.
  • Update cost rates and standards in the system periodically for accuracy.
  • Monitor and provide external auditors with all information required for a thorough and accurate review/audit.
  • Perform monthly sales tax compliance.
  • Provide accounting support and assistance for other departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Supervisory experience
  • 5-8 years of strong accounting experience
  • Manufacturing experience
