About the position

The Accounting Manager position at Robert Half is a contract-to-hire role located in Matthews, North Carolina, within the retail industry. This role is responsible for managing accounting functions, leading a team, and overseeing project management tasks to ensure efficient and accurate accounting operations.

Responsibilities

  • Handle project management tasks within the accounting department
  • Lead a team to ensure efficient and accurate accounting operations
  • Process, analyze, and reconcile accounts as part of the accounting cycle
  • Assist with the period close process to ensure accurate accounting
  • Perform Payroll accounting functions, including tax accrual, reporting, garnishment reporting, and accounts reconciliation
  • Collaborate with various departments such as Payroll, Banking, Sales Audit, and Inventory Accounting for reconciliation support, review, preparation, and approval
  • Calculate, post, and approve weekly and periodically journal entries
  • Audit vendor billing and provide reports to business leaders
  • Utilize personal computer software and mainframe systems to access data and compile management reports
  • Research transactions prior to the closing of the accounting period to ensure that the results are accurately stated
  • Prepare journal entries and accruals monthly
  • Download, analyze and distribute Payroll Tax documentation
  • Work with management for requested reports and information
  • Calculate accruals and post journal entries for Accounts Receivables.

Requirements

  • Must possess substantial knowledge of Accounting Functions
  • Experience in Account Reconciliation is required
  • Proven ability to manage projects effectively
  • Must be familiar with Full Cycle Payroll operations
  • Experience in handling Payroll is necessary
  • Knowledge of Payroll Taxes is a must
  • Should be able to work in a retail environment
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Must be able to multitask and handle stress effectively
  • Experience in using accounting software is an added advantage
  • Must possess a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Previous experience in a managerial role is preferred
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
