About the position

The Accounting Manager at Olympic Steel will play a crucial role in overseeing the accounting department, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting. This position is responsible for preparing closing entries for month-end, generating daily statements that reflect estimated profit and loss, and developing quarterly forecasts and annual budgets. The Accounting Manager will also review Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions to ensure their accuracy, calculate quarterly inside sales incentives, and monitor inventory levels to ensure proper reporting. Furthermore, this role involves managing divisional expenses and reviewing General Ledger codes to confirm that expenses are accurately categorized. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with a minimum of 2 years of accounting or finance experience. Supervisory experience or experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting is preferred. The candidate should have a solid understanding of financial reporting requirements and be skilled in using accounting software such as SEMS, AX, Lawson, Essbase, OnBase, and/or ACCPAC. A CPA or MBA is considered a plus. The Accounting Manager will be expected to function well in a team-oriented environment, contributing to the overall success of the accounting department and the organization as a whole.

Responsibilities

Requirements
